Corrections log

Everything I've got wrong, and when I fixed it.

Every substantive correction made to a post since this site started, newest first. Typos and formatting aren't listed — anything that changed the meaning of a claim is.

Publishing this costs me nothing except the discomfort of it, and it's the only way a reader can check whether "corrections in the open" is a real policy or a line on an about page. If you spot something wrong, send it over — corrections get answered before anything else.

How Search Actually Decides What to Show You

Originally described the retrieval candidate set as “a few hundred documents”. Corrected to “a few thousand”, which is the figure the cited source actually supports.

eSIM vs Local SIM vs Roaming

The wasted-data figure for local SIMs was stated as 44% without noting that it's a median across 14 countries rather than an average. Method now stated inline.

I Built 17 Automations. Five Survived.

Said twelve automations died “because the tooling changed” in the summary, which contradicted the breakdown further down the post (five died that way). Summary rewritten.

The Carry-On Tech Kit I've Rebuilt 11 Times

Listed the GaN charger as saving “about 600g”. Reweighed it against the kit it replaced: the real figure is about 400g. Corrected.

Long-Haul on Points Without Churning

A reader pointed out that the transfer-partner example implied transfers are reversible. They are not. Added an explicit warning and rewrote the paragraph.

How this works: a correction gets a dated note on the post itself and an entry here on the same day. The original wording is described rather than deleted, so you can see what changed. Full detail in the editorial policy.
